See 'Ya, Wouldn't Wanna Be 'Ya

The Rumsfeld autocracy is finally over. Thank GOD. Hopefully this next guy has a clue and listens to others for advice. Hopefully he gives a damn about American soldier's lives and doesn't "dare" people to get him out of office (see Robin's blog). I can only hope that the reign of the "derka-der-der" approach to the war is coming to an end. Time for some accountability on our end instead of relentless rhetoric and hyperbole.

I really enjoyed watching the House go to the Dems last night. The reason being: there were four "panelists" on CNN weighing in on their party's fortunes/misfortunes. Two were Republican, two were Democrat. At the beginning of the broadcast, the Reps were confident the Dems couldn't possibly take six seats in the senate. They were predicting three, tops. The show trudged on and their story changed from "they'll try as hard as they can" to "well, it's not like they'll be able to do anything anyway". What fuckers. I'm not expecting them to congratulate the Dems on their pick-ups, but come on. Don't walk into the night pompous about your opponent and then leave trying to play off getting beaten (take it from a sore loser - bitching doesn't help).

The other indication that they were sore losers - the Reps were talking all kinds of shit about how the process wansn't the "tidal wave" people expected. YES IT WAS. First of all, everyone expected close races in the Senate, but no one was forecasting a Democratic take-over. Now, at least today, they are in quite the right place to do so. Or at least, make it an even 50-50. Moreover, the Dems have been toppling Reps left and right in the House. It WAS a tidal wave, because they haven't had control of the house since 1994. It's not like they squeaked out a win; they blasted through. So give it up, Republicans. You have only one person to thank for polarizing the nation such that a party who normally shows terrible poll numbers (the Democrats), took you to town... Karl Rove.
